It was especially exciting for me to photograph Amanda & Cory's beautiful destination wedding in Savannah, Georgia, because I had the unique privilege to be present for one of this couple's major milestones... their engagement. I was first introduced to the Indiana-based bride and groom when my boyfriend (who is best friends with Cory, and also happens to be Amanda's cousin) and I were invited to join them on their annual Hilton Head vacation 2 years ago. Last year, we were out to dinner at Hilton Head's incredible Vine restaurant when Cory quietly proposed to Amanda by his side at the dinner table. Browsing the menu, we had no idea what had just occurred until Amanda exclaimed, "I'm engaged!!!" while proudly displaying a new ring on her finger. While I'm still slightly salty that Cory didn't prepare me to have my camera ready for that moment (Just kidding, Cory), it was truly a joy to celebrate with the newly engaged couple in such an intimate setting.
A year later, the theme of intimacy was likewise reflected in their wedding day - The guest list consisted of less than 20 family members. Savannah's Lafayette Square (which had caught Amanda's eye during a tour of the historic coastal city on our annual trip last year) provided a perfect backdrop for the sweet, simple ceremony - which was officiated by Cory's grandfather. Parents and grandparents were invited to take part in a special segment of the ceremony, highlighting the importance of family and its role in marriage.
After the vows were exchanged and the ceremony ended, we had an opportunity to spend a few hours taking photographs around Savannah. Block after block of perfectly groomed parks, Spanish moss hanging from centuries old oak trees, ornate antebellum architecture, cobblestone streets lining the historic waterfront district... This city has so much character. Top it all off with such a stunning bride and groom as Amanda & Cory, and it was a photographer's dream!
We then met the family for a fantastic meal, drinks, and toasts at Garibaldi Cafe, and continued the celebration into the Savannah night. It was such an honor to be invited to photograph this wonderful couple's wedding day, and I'm thankful to call them friends. I am thrilled to share these images, just a few of my favorites from the day, and I wish all the best to the newlyweds as they open this new chapter of their life together. Congratulations, Amanda & Cory!
