I've known Carmen quite a long time. As an accomplished chef in one of the top culinary destinations, she is creative, talented, ambitious, and totally loves to have a good time. Basically, we get along fabulously. So when she called me to chat about doing her engagement and destination wedding photography, I knew without question that we were going to get some special images. I was elated that she and Bill wanted to do their engagement shoot at Asheville, NC's iconic Biltmore Estate - it was the first opportunity I've had to photograph a couple there in the many years I've shot in and around Asheville. We spent some time shooting in the downtown area (with the ever-so-dapper Cris Croissant!), and then headed to the Biltmore in the afternoon. We walked the grounds awhile and then took a dinner break as we waited for sunset to capture the last few photos of the day. It was one of those perfect moments in time - somehow there wasn't a single tourist on the terrace of the estate as the sun disappeared behind the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance, and we ended up with some pretty magical images that remind me of a fairy-tale, fantasy land. Huge thanks to Carmen and Bill for the amazing opportunity, and also for being a generally kick-ass couple (and awesome friends)!
